Manuel Kugler holds a Masters degree in Materials Science from ETH Zurich, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. He subsequently worked as a research associate in the Micro and Nanosystems Group at ETH Zurich and served as project leader at the spin-off company greenTEG, where he developed products and manufacturing processes for thermoelectric heat flux sensors and generators.
Since October 2017, he has been responsible for the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences’ priority programmes in Data & AI and Advanced Manufacturing. In this role, he has led numerous initiatives to improve data accessibility, raise public awareness, and promote the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence in Switzerland.
Since January 2025, he has served as co-chair of UK 42 Artificial Intelligence, the AI standardization committee of the Swiss Association for Standardization (SNV).
